13 - 14 November 2014: The European Institute of Tirana, in cooperation with PAMECA IV and the GDAP organized the six training session on "The rights of escorted/ arrested/ individuals and their fulfillment by the Police authorities" at the Police Directorate of Shkodra Region. This activity is in the framework of the two-year project "Preventing torture and enhancing the respect of human rights of arrested and detained persons in Albanian police units", funded by OSI, OSFA, and supported by PAMECA IV.


4 November 2014: EIT experts carried out a monitoring visit to the police detention units in Kopliku, Shkodra, Lezha, assessing the current situation of arrested and detained persons including treatment, protection measures, material conditions, health services, etc.. Also, they assessed the implementation at institution level of national and international standards and policies. Visit reports, including concrete recommendations, will be transmitted to the General Directorate of Police. According to the Cooperation Agreement with the General Directorate of State Police, the related report will be published only following after that the GDP has provided its official comments. The monitoring visit was carried out in the framework of the EIT project "Preventing torture and enhancing the respect of human rights of arrested and detained persons in Albanian police units", funded by OSI and OSFA.
